Together with Tom Johnson, director of The Gecko Project, filmmaker Leo Plunkett and Bolivian lawyer and activist Alvaro Bozo Garcia, David Hill is a co-producer of the film ‘Bolivia Burning’, made by Gecko and released in September 2025. A trailer was released in June 2025 and has been viewed almost 270,000 times. The film follows Hill and Bozo Garcia into eastern Bolivia where vast areas of forest are being cut down mainly for agriculture - making Bolivia the world’s number two for tropical deforestation in 2024, with only Brazil out in front. ‘We are on the edge of a precipice,” the film features one Bolivian activist, Alcides Vadillo, from the NGO TIERRA, saying. “If we continue in the same way, we’re going to fall into that precipice.”
