Together with Tom Johnson, director of The Gecko Project, filmmaker Leo Plunkett and Bolivian human rights lawyer Alvaro Bozo Garcia, David Hill is a co-producer of the film ‘Bolivia Burning’, made by Gecko and due to be released in July 2025. A trailer was released in June 2025. The film follows Hill and Bozo Garcia into eastern Bolivia where vast areas of forest are being cut down mainly for agriculture - making Bolivia the world’s number two for tropical deforestation, with only Brazil out in front. ‘We are on the edge of a precipice,” the film features one Bolivian activist, Alcides Vadillo, from the NGO TIERRA, saying. “If we continue in the same way, we’re going to fall into that precipice.”
